This book discloses what makes the Design Academy Eindhoven one of the most important design academies in the world.

Design Academy Eindhoven was founded in 1947, at which time it was called (in Dutch) the Academy of Industrial Design Eindhoven. Today the school has a reputation, at home and abroad, as a highly contemporary and virtually unequalled design institute. Programmes offered cover a wide range of design-related disciplines – from product, graphic, new-media and automotive design to city planning and trend forecasting. The position taken by students and alumni within this spectrum of creative activities is considerable.

The publication, House of Concepts, casts a light – through words and pictures – on the 60-year history of the academy. In the pages of this book, the reader will find the work of nearly every important Dutch designer, as most of them have studied at the academy. House of Concepts also offers a philosophical and critical view of design as a whole, and of Dutch design in particular, set in an international context.
